Niva and Leo's 2nd Playdate

Niva hosted her first playdate today with her old pal Leo Bodden...check them out here having a grand old time:

Niva: Ma, I thought you said Leo was coming over??
Leo: Hello, I'm right here, silly!

We're playing Hide and Go Seek!

As you can see, the kids are well on their way to a lifelong friendship. At this time, I think that the mommies are having a little more fun than the babies but good times were had by all. Thanks for coming over, Leo and Auntie Karen!

2 Month Milestone

Well, Niva finally got her 2 month examination/vaccinations. Now since she is protected from 8 different diseases, we can take her everywhere--yippppeeee! Niva was so quiet and alert while the doctor did a full examination of her...I was so proud of her. However, my heart crumbled when she got her shots. The nurse stuck her with 3 needles about 3 inches long and my Precious Darling burst into a tirade of red-faced screams. This then started my own waterworks. It was such a painful sight! After about 10 minutes of rocking and 20 rounds of "You Are My Sunshine", we finally got her to a state in which we could exit the building.

Today's doctor's appointment also revealed that Eggs and Bakey weighs in at 12 lbs, 8 ozs...this is in the 90 percentile of her age group. And to think that we used to be worried about her weight gain just a few weeks ago! I guess that baby car seat isn't getting lighter anytime soon...hopefully, it will make up for my lack of time at the gym!
But Ma, I tried to be a big girl! :(

Poor Baby was all tuckered out for the rest of the afternoon.

Quack Quack

Yesterday, I read in a magazine article that in order to encourage speech development in infants, they need to hear at least 30,000 words a day. WHAT! That's a lot of words! To put that in perspective, the article said that adults usually use 16,000 words per day. Of course I want my Lil Eggs and Bakey aka the Valedictorian GT Kid to be first in speech development among other things. So today, I was on a mission to cram 30,000 words in my day...it was like I was a sports commentator except for it was not just for a 2 hour football game, it was every waking moment of Niva's day. When Niva is able to talk, she will know every corner in our house, every different color flower on our walk, and where every bump in the road is located. And she will hear it all over again tomorrow...can't wait until this is a 2-sided conversation!
Lady, do you ever shut up??
However, I think her first words are going to be some variation of, "Momo down!", "Momo stop!" or "Momo no!"

In other news, I have discovered what not to do to appease Baby Sunshine. As I was cooking dinner, I had Niva in her bouncer (on the floor Dad, not on the table this time-- safety first!) and I decided to entertain her with my hip dance moves. Her lip immediately curled out into the saddest face and she burst into tears. Apparently, she's not into my Elbows and Knees 6th Grade moves...
Mommy's dancing makes me feel a little bit ill.

Roadtrip!

This Labor Day weekend, Niva J took Pebble Chase Drive by storm with her first trip to Katy. She had the best time at Gammy and Gampy's! First of all, she got to relax in the comfort of her new Pack n Play...

The giraffe told me a funny joke!

Gammy is so cuddly!
Gammy doted on her while I got some much needed eyebrow and pedicure help....

Ma, please get rid of those scary caterpillars!

Lil Eggs and Bakey also got to meet our good friends, The Mayekars...
Maybe one day I can work in Maya Auntie's office too...

All the kids had a great time at the G-parents' house...
Geez, can I get some attention around here too??

Cheers to a great trip to Gammy and Gampy's house! Can't wait to play there again!

Baby's 1st First Thursday

Today, Niva got to experience the Austin tradition known as First Thursday. For the first Thursday of every month, there are special deals at certain places in town. The place we went to today was a boutique called Strut where everything was 40% off! Niva helped me pick out a purse big enough to fit all of her paraphernalia. Our first mother/daughter shopping experience was a hit!

And in other news, we have discovered that Niva likes to help Mommy cook! She helps by chilling in her bouncer quietly while watching the fan go round and round and listening to cocktail lounge music. Here she is in action:

When are we going to eat, Ma??

What a great discovery--makes cooking dinner a lot easier...I will definitely be using this trick again in the future!

Little Inchworm

So when I put Lil Eggs and Bakey to sleep, this is where I place her in the crib:

And about 75% of the time, this is where she ends up when she wakes up:
This is Niva at 2:30 am this morning...yes, her hand is touching the wall.

What to do? On one hand, all the reports say not to use a bumper anymore because there is a risk for SIDS but on the other hand, she is only 8 weeks old and she's already dancing all over the crib! How much more will she be moving when she is 8 months old? I guess we will find out....

And for your bonus picture of the day:
